The electronics industry is in the process of defining
and implementing programs intended to limit and eliminate
certain substances used in the manufacture of semiconductor
devices. The purpose of these programs is to reduce
the influence of these substances on the ecosystem and
to contribute to the overall preservation of the global
environment.
Customers and manufacturers alike are focused on device
assembly to ensure compliance with new environmental
regulations. The new directives from the European Union
called "Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)"
will restrict the use of lead and other materials in
electronic component products. These mandated directives
will take effect beginning July 1, 2006.
As a strategic supplier to customers MosChip offers

to as "Lead-Free" and "Green". These
products are marked unique part numbers signifying that
the devices have been manufactured in compliance with

In general for
RoHS/Lead-Free the MCSxxxx catalog part numbers are changed
to MCSxxxx part numbers and MCSxxxx catalog part numbers
get a -GR suffix.
