General Description
The MCS7717 controller provides bridging between the
Universal Serial Bus (USB) input and enhanced UART,
parallel printer port. This device contains all the
necessary logic to communicate with the host computer
via the USB bus. It supports Printers with Hardware
accelerated SPP mode.
In addition to its host interface, the MCS7717 is a
stand-alone USB hub device which complies with USB Specification
Rev. 1.1. It integrates a serial interface engine, hub
repeater, hub controller, transceivers and a 3.3 V regulator.
The MCS7717 operates in bus-powered mode.
The MCS7717 has a serial interface for external EEprom
access and a reduced frequency (6 MHz) crystal oscillator.
This combination of features allows significant cost
savings in system design along with straightforward
implementation of serial, parallel and USB functionality
into PC peripherals.
